Welcome to the Mindful and Wellbeing for Young People Practitioner Course.

This course has been developed by Clare Hales (PhD Researcher, Child and Adolescent Mindfulness Practitioner for Mental Health and SEND Teacher) through training and experience, and more importantly delivery and working directly with young people. Clare is the founder and a director of Developing Matters CIC, fully qualified to deliver mindful wellbeing courses to young people and yoga for special needs.

This training has been created for school staff to enable more young people to be taught mindful and wellbeing skills either by completing the Mindful and Wellbeing Course, or through adding the course content into lessons, assemblies, or planned activities.

Mindful strategies and concepts are easy when you know how, but to practice these simple techniques and embed the concepts and learning into day-to-day life involves constant reminders, activities, and prompts for adults let alone young people to continue to practice! Therefore, having a member of staff equipped to do this can support and benefit the pupils in your school to help them navigate the busy world, help them develop a sense of self, and give them the skills and learning for things going on in their lives now and in the future.

You can print off the PDF for all 9-modules of the Mindful and Wellbeing Course for Young People and re-print and use it with as many pupils as you wish, most sessions, activities, and techniques can also be stand-alone activities, or support planning and ideas for RSE lessons, group or class work or assemblies and are a great starting point for other subjects and life experiences. You also have access to two documents for planning and assessments through the RSE Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing Objectives and the activities within the course for young people to meet the NHS 5 Ways to Wellbeing Objectives, plus the Mindful and Wellbeing Course Manual Objectives.

For the Train the Trainer (TTT) course your learning is in sections. There will be topics to read, information about each module in the pupil manual, and thinking reflections. Although it is not a requirement to work through the course manual yourself, it is highly recommended that you do so to understand the topics and techniques you will be delivering and also for you to learn the content. Delivery of aspects of the course before your accreditation is also not a requirement, however, if you wished to pause your reading and teach techniques or deliver a session and activity to support your teaching and development then this would help to consolidate your understanding.

When you are working with pupils, the sections of the manual are called modules with sessions and activities, and these will be referred to during your train-the-trainer course guidance. The sessions are the teaching and learning elements followed by an activity to complete to consolidate understanding. The session content may need to be adapted for individual needs through your own planning.

You can book two free consultations during your learning journey. If there is any additional support you feel that your school may need for additional needs, anxieties, or self-regulation the cost is £50 per zoom consultation. Please feel free to contact us directly at
